Sorghum is a grain product, shown in the picture below.

Sorghum is the fifth most harvested grain in America, behind wheat, rice, corn and barley. Second only to Nigeria, the United States is the world’s biggest sorghum grower. The US is the largest exporter of sorghum, by far, exporting over 60% of all grown sorghum every year.

The sorghum used for Mini Pops, like most of the sorghum grown across the globe, is not pumped with growth chemicals, so you can be assured that you are getting the most pure and natural crop. In addition, sorghum has fewer calories and less fat! Because it is also gluten-free, those with Celiac’s disease can safely consume sorghum. It’s also higher in important minerals like calcium, protein, and iron, too!

Because sorghum takes only about 50% of the water corn uses, it’s much cheaper to grow, making it a more reliable crop for farmers. Yields of sorghum, on average, are about 15% more per acre than corn, too.

Sorghum is an important product around the world. It is a food staple in places like India and Africa, and can be used in a number of ways. These include cookies, porridge, cakes, bread, malt beverages, and, of course, Mini Pops!

Start snacking!

Stop by the Fancy Food Show this weekend if you’re in the...

Stop by the Fancy Food Show this weekend if you’re in the DC area. There will be over 25,000 attendees; will you be among them?
